Official summary: "Since Sage was kidnapped, Clea has no way of knowing if he is alive or dead. And even though she has only just discovered they were soulmates, she feels like a part of her is lost forever. What’s worse, she can’t even turn to her best friend Ben — because every time she looks at him, all she sees is his betrayal. But waiting for something to happen is not an option, so Clea is ready for action. Suffering through dreams of seeing Sage with another woman, she makes an uneasy alliance with Sage’s enemies and sets out to be reunited with Sage ... in this life or the next." How I obtained the book: Bought for $4.86 at used book store (It's actually a publisher's remainder book, not a used book)

My commentary:
  • I'm honestly shocked at how amazing this book was, and the final pages totally took me by surprise. I loved how in this book, the narration went back and forth between Clea and Amelia. I'd definitely recommend this book (and obviously the first one in the series) to anyone who likes this genre of books.

Memorable quotes:
  • "I'm not someone who falls apart. ... I wasn't raised to be a weak person. Weak people fail, and I couldn't afford to fail right now, not when so much was at stake." ~ Clea
  • "A life without Sage would be easier, maybe, and it would surely be safer, but it would be life under novocaine, numb and empty." ~ Clea
  • "My brain rot is your brain rot." ~ Rayna to Clea
  • "Poor, trusting Clea. You'll follow your heart, even if it leads you off a cliff." ~ Petra
  • "I'd been right from the start -- soulmates were for fairy tales. In real life, people were just people, and they couldn't be trusted." ~ Clea
  • "If love bonds are real, then nothing can break them apart." ~ Clea
