Official summary: "In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. ... But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure — and re-education — looms larger than ever." http://richellemead.com

  • “It’s Adrian Ivashkov logic. Don’t try to understand it. Just roll with it.” ~ Adrian
  • “Love is a flame in the dark. A breath of warmth on a winter’s night. A star that guides you home.” ~ Adrian

Reading Bingo: While this book fits plenty of categories on the Reading Bingo Challenge (female heroine, high school, epic love story -- and don't you even try to tell me that Sydney and Adrian's love story isn't epic), I'm going to mark it off on the "a book set with a dragon" square on the young adult card. The book includes a little magical baby dragon named Hopper. Technically, Hopper is a Callistana that was made by Sydney's magic. He has a Chinese dragon styled body shape and is described as being small enough to fit into someone's hand. When I saw the bingo card, I thought there was no way I could cover the dragon square, then I remembered Hopper, and I was so happy.
